The beergeek.ca event team (me) stopped by the Hopscotch Kelowna event (formerly the Okanagan Food and Drink Festival) last night. It looks like a combination of second year status as well as the “Hopscotch” name helped to bring in the crowds. As I don’t have access to the numbers I can only guess, but I would say the attendance was at least double the previous year. It was great to see the beer well represented locally (Tree, Okanagan Spring, Tin Whistle), provincially (Howe Sound, Central City, Turning Point, Russell), nationally (Mill Street) and internationally (Grolsch, Peroni, Pilsner Urquell, Efes, and several tasty treats from importers Bravo Beer, Beverage Concepts and Purple Valley Imports). I should note at this point that there was also some wine and spirits available, but who’s kidding who? It was the beer that brought me there. The event started at 6:00 and by 8:00 the line-ups were enormous but the crowd was friendly and the vibe was good. For more info on the vendors who were there and what was poured visit the festival page at www.hopscotchkelowna.com .
